Kantor and Easterwood Receive Defense Verdict
September 17, 2019Adam Kantor and Matt Easterwood recently completed a 3-day jury trial. The insured was the Ramada Waterfront and its driver.
The driver had left the company shuttle van running, with the keys in the ignition, while she momentarily got out of the vehicle to handle an issue. Florida statutes prohibit a driver from leaving their vehicle unattended with the keys still in the vehicle. While the Ramada driver was outside the van, a third party got in the van, stole it, and ultimately crashed into the Plaintiff’s car at a speed of approximately 100 miles per hour. The accident caused both property damage and personal injury.
After a 15 minute deliberation, the jury returned with a Defense Verdict finding no liability on the Ramada or its driver.
